The questions that are used during Math Quest tournaments are drawn from all fields of mathematics. Below is a list of suggested areas. This list is in no way exhaustive but has been developed to give an overview of what might be covered.

- Multiplication tables up to 12, factors, multiples,
- Prime/composite numbers, prime factorization
- Least Common, Greatest Common Factor
- Negative numbers, number sequences and missing
- Place value
- Order of Operation
- Data handling: means, mode, median, range, maximum, minimum
- Squared numbers and exponents
- Converting decimals, fractions and percentages to one another
- Word problems using all four operations
- Simplifying and ordering fractions, mixed numbers, improper fractions
- Rounding whole numbers and decimals
- Interpreting Graphs
- Symmetry, both reflective and rotational
- Division and multiplication of multi-digit numbers
- Polygons-properties, naming, joining, angles, area,
- Polyhedrons properties, naming, angles, area of faces, volume/capacity
- Measurements (all measurements will be metric)
- Time and calendars- both analogue and digital (24hour clock)
- Probability
- Coordinates (using all 4 quadrants)
